Birthday Cosplay…

by Chris on May.10, 2006, under Anime

AmonI’m looking at a couple of different characters for cosplay at my birthday party. The first one is Amon from Witch Hunter Robin. Here’s his profile:

  • Name: Amon
  • Rank: Major
  • Age: Unknown, estimated age: late 20’s
  • Personality: Slightly cold blooded, loyal.
  • Weapon: Orbo Gun
  • Description: A very serious and mysterious guy, Amon was assigned as Robin’s partner and “guardian”.

This one would invole making the shirt, dyeing my hair black, shaving my beard and everything else I have. Not too much work, although that long shirt could be a pain.

The second one is Kakashi from Naruto. This one would probably be as much work as the Amon costume. Basically blue long sleeve shirt and pants, and then the green jacket. The headband you can buy at hot topic and then a white wig. The gloves I basically have and I can wear my tabi boots on my feet. Personality wise this guy is more me. He’s lazy and spends most of his time reading erotic novels (while I don’t do that, I get the idea of doing whatever I want whenever I want).

Well, I guess I need to pick one, if you have any thoughts just post them in the comments spots.

Uchuu no Stellvia – Stellvia of the Universe

by Chris on May.09, 2006, under Anime

Stellvia

I watched this show over the weekend and I really liked it. I liked it so much that I stayed up to 3am Monday morning without even realising it just so I could see what happened. I’m glad it wasn’t wasted time.

It starts off as a fairly typical Sci-Fi School-in-Space kind of show, but it really seemed to draw me into the story. The character development is great and the multi-layered plot really helps build this into a great show.

The general plot is that 189 years ago the world was almost destroyed by a electro-magnetic wave sent out by a supernova 10 light years away. Human kind survived and is now preparing to weather the second wave coming from this supernova, only this time it’s not just electro-magnetic it has chucks of the star in it. While this story unfolds in the background we follow the trials and tribulations of Shipon (Katase Shima) and her school friends as they learn the ways of piloting and other space activities aboard the Space Station Stellvia.

What I really liked about this show was how it really focused on the people and not the technology. There is very little technobabble in the show, so while it is sci-fi it has a good foothold in the romance, comedy and slice-of-life genres as well, making this a show I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a good story.

Rating: Very Good, don’t miss it!
