I just wish there were more cars that look like this on the market. We couldn’t have our flying cars, but at least we could have vehicles that look like they were created in the 21st century.

I think if I had a car like this, I’d probably have a massive electric bill from just driving around showing it off to everyone.

A weekend with Ike

So this weekend Ike blew through most of the US, leaving a trail of destruction in it’s way. This is one story of damage caused by the high winds as they flew through the midwest. The winds only really lasted for five to six hours, but there are still some people in the area who are without power four days later.

I, personally, think we got off pretty lucky compared to the damage others suffered around the city. So the winds rolled in around 2ish. We lost power about 30 minutes later. Then, a couple of hours later, one of the trees outside lost a pretty big vertical limb. It ended up laying horizontally across the front of my car and the back of my girlfriends car.

These pictures were taken during the storm, so they aren’t the best quality. Our power came back around 6ish and by 9 the winds were back to normal Sunday evening setting.

Overall the damage wasn’t too bad. A windscreen, a rear window, a lot of scratches and two dents in my body work.

Woot! I got a new car!

So I bought a new car!

It’s an 07 Hyundai Elantra with 22K miles on it. It’s got all the bells and whistles (electric windows, 6 speaker CD player, remote lock, alarm, etc etc). It’s got a 143hp 2.0L DOHC engine in it. 0-60 in around 10 seconds, which is probably the best I’ve had in a car yet.

It’s a lovely drive. It’s smooth, quiet and really good on fuel. I’ve driven about 50 miles in it and used up less than 2 gallons. The inside is very spacious, which I need (being 6 foot and a bit tall).

Over the weekend I installed my Sirius radio as well as set up somewhere to mount my mp3 Player/GPS unit. I want to put a decent computer in it, but that will probably have to wait until the Summer, when I have time and I can work outside (it snowed again over the weekend )

All the insides glow a lovely cobalt blue, so I’m going to put in black/blue seat covers/mats/etc. I’m also going to get the glass tinted once I save up the money.

New car… Kind of

On tuesday we got a “new” car. It’s actually an old car, an 89 Honda Accord LX-i, but it’s new for me. It’s a nice little car, although I say little it’s almost as long as the Toyota, which is kind of odd since it’s only a 3 door.

It’s drives pretty well, the only “problem” is that it’s a little rough when it idles, although I’m hoping I can get someone to look at that in the near future. We’ll see what happens. It’s also kind of odd that it has 4 keys but only one opens the door but doesn’t start the engine, while the other 2 start the engine but don’t unlock the car. So when I went and left my keys at work yesterday I wasn’t able to get into the car to do some work on it . Oh well, life sucks when you do dumb stuff!
