Klingon pIqaD T-Shirts

Looking to show off your true Klingon nature? Then head over to my new shirt store at http://lungqij.spreadshirt.com/.

There are many different designs and I’m adding more all the time. If you don’t see anything you like, feel free to request custom shirts. As long as they have pIqaD on them, I’ll make them!

tlhIngan mu’ghom 1.1.0 for webOS

tlhinganmughom_2010-23-03_104221My first webOS app, tlhIngan mu’ghom, is now listed in the Palm app store.

The app has a searchable Klingon-English/English-Klingon dictionary (with pIqaD), lookup tables for all the Klingon prefixes and suffixes, phrases to help you converse and some streaming audio to help train your ear.

In the future I’m going to add more phrases and, hopefully, some features to help learn Klingon words.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for things to add to the app, just comment on my blog or hit me up on twitter @qurgh.

qa’ QaQ ‘ay’ (Angel’s Share) – Klingon Manga Scanlation

Angel's_Share_pg03I’ve decided to translate some manga scanlations into Klingon. I’m going to try and do a few each month, if possible. If you have suggestions for Klingon manga, feel free to let me know.

The first manga I have translated is a tale about a man between worlds. It’s a short eight page story. It’s available in both romanized Klingon and pIqaD. Just click to download the version you want to read:

Romanized qa’ QaQ ‘ay’

pIqaD qa’ QaQ ‘ay’

  (pIqaD Support)

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on a package for Windows Vista/Windows 7 that will enable pIqaD (Klingon writing) support throughout the operating system.

I have created a new Klingon local, a pIqaD keyboard layout, a Unicode pIqaD font and a registry script to link the font into the system. This package enables pIqaD to be used in any unicode aware application without having to make specific font changes. Check out these screen shots:

You can download this package right here: pIqaD Installer

Installing this should also enable the language bar so you can switch to the Klingon keyboard (it’s called OL in the language bar, MS won’t let you change everything). If you download this package and try it out, please comment on this thread and let me know if you’re successful or if you have any errors.

DISCLAIMER: While I’m 99% sure this won’t do anything harmful to your system, it is a “beta” version. If you do decide to install it and your PC blows up or something else happens, please don’t send me death threats. I will try and help in anyway I can, but somethings are beyond my control.

If your using Windows XP and want to add pIqaD support, check out this post on the Klingon Language Institutes Wiki (also by me).

   <- Once the font is installed you should be able to read this too.

tlhIngan Hol Works

This blog post contains a list of resources, books and other works that would be of interest to a Klingon speaker. If you think I’m missing something, please let me know so I can add to it.

Thanks to  for a few I forgot.

See the list after the jump.

Here’s the video from last weekends KAG celebration in Columbus, OH:

This was broadcast on TV Saturday night as part of the news. Now I’ve been on TV speaking Klingon! Qapla’!

Another wejDIch weDneSDay…

If you follow me, @roneyII or @peSHIr on twitter you’ll know that the third (wejDIch) Wednesday of every month is used to practice our Klingon.

As an extra bit of training, and for those that don’t speak Klingon, I’m going to post all the translations to my tweets.

See them all after the break.

Klingon Numbers and Time lesson

This is just a quick update for the new Klingon Lesson I added to my tlhIngan Hol Database. You can access it on the Lessons page.

I’m looking for ideas for more lessons, so if there if something you want to see just comment here or @qurgh me on twitter.

I’ve been translating The World According to Geek into Klingon. It’s a geeky web comic that’s published on Sundays. It’s fun to translate and while I tried to stay true to the orginals, the limited vocabulary of Klingon can be a hinderance.

There aren’t any Klingon words for a nerdgasm (or any kind of -gasm), Thanksgiving or tweeting, so I had to be a little liberal with those. Enjoy and there will be more to come soon.

Here’s the link to my Klingon translations.

Klingon PADD theme update

My Klingon PADD theme has been uploaded to the Maemo extras repository. It can be installed on a NIT by going to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/qurgh-complete/ on the device and clicking on install.

Feedback is greatly appreciated. Qapla’!
